what resolution you running?
Case wise, coolermaster have some solid cases that are pretty damn good for cable management also. The HAF is a love hate case, some people like the look, others don't but it's a solid case performance wise.
Here's a guide from my most favourite tech site for "what should I buy" this month. The link is for the i7 rig, though they have a few cheaper alternatives on previous pages of the article. Worth a quick read / glance.

been off line too much lately...
I second the call to check out Gigabyte motherboards.
Go with a medium-to-high end board, look for the new standards like USB3, SATA3/6gbs(even if your going SSD route), etc...
There's a LOT of cool cases out now, pick one off newegg with a bottom mounted power supply. If you sleep in the same room as the pc, avoid one with the fancy bling lights. They can make sleep difficult.
Antec 900 is still an easy case to work in and control fan speeds-but they haneed ve LED's all over. Window cases are useful in telling when it's dusting time or if you want to visual check for dead fans somewhere. The window on my old Antec 900 saved my ass a $300 processor once. Things to bear in mind. You still have your personal preferences, which reign king in my book.
You game in the dark or lighted area?
I'd love to help ya more, but I'm not really available for a while.
